Woooooow. I let Music Monday fall by the wayside. Uh... oops? It's been over a year since I last did one. I don't think anyone missed it much anyway, but I'm still bringing it back. :-p

So this one is Numbers, HURT's newest single. Still no word on if it's going to be on their next album or if its just 'hey, we're still alive! See? Here's proof!' kinda single. Honestly, first listen via streaming radio, I didn't really care for it. I didn't hate it, but it was low quality and I couldn't catch the lyrics very well and it was just... kinda meh. But I bought it when it hit Amazon, and after a few listens, I fell in love. It just continues to grow on me. I especially LOVE the end of it. It's just powerful.

I really didn't plan to use another Hurt song for Music Monday this soon, but they've released a couple of songs from the upcoming CD (April 7th, w00t!) and I'm loving them more and more. My favorite of the 3 so far is actually Dreams Away, but for some reason I wanted to share World Ain't Right instead. (You can listen to both of them, and Wars still, at the link provided, if you're interested.) I also need to do a Real Life update, cause much has happened in the last weekish. Just not right now.

Hurt (featuring Shaun Morgan of Seether) - World Ain't Right
http://www.myspace.com/hurt (Don't need a Myspace account to listen!)

The world it just ain't right.
It keeps me up at night.
A good man's paralyzed.
He's everything to me,
hell, what else could he be?
He paid for all we do.
He paid for all we get.
Just try not to forget,
if it hasn't happened yet.

A gambler pays his dues,
a gambler pays his debts,
placed upon a bet,
a brand new red Corvette,
but he just lost Juliet.
He paid for all he'd do,
He paid for all he'd get,
and how could I forget,
when it hasn't happened yet?

Would you show me the meaning of love,
so it doesn't affect me much?
What you do unto us,
I never expected all my hopes and dreams,
to fall apart at the seams...
to fall apart at the seams.

The kindest man I knew,
the kindest man I've seen,
was tied to a machine.
Yeah, tied to a machine,
the kind that makes you breathe.

So could you show me the meaning of love,
'cause it doesn't affect me much?
What you do unto us,
I never expected all my hopes and dreams,
to fall apart at the seams....
to fall apart at the seams.

The world it just ain't right.
It keeps me up at night.
Try to be satisfied,
but I'm still in love with you,
but it's not like you want me to.

Initially, I didn't care for this one much. Too slow and stripped down. But on repeat listens, it grew on me. A lot. I'm pretty well in love with it now. That same slow, mellow, stripped down quality has become one of the great things about it. And that 'but he just lost Juliet' line? I don't know what it is about it, but I LOVE how Shawn delivers it. It's so fantastic. That one stays in my head, and I think it's a huge part of why I've grown to love the song as a whole.
