Woooooow. I let Music Monday fall by the wayside. Uh... oops? It's been over a year since I last did one. I don't think anyone missed it much anyway, but I'm still bringing it back. :-p

So this one is Numbers, HURT's newest single. Still no word on if it's going to be on their next album or if its just 'hey, we're still alive! See? Here's proof!' kinda single. Honestly, first listen via streaming radio, I didn't really care for it. I didn't hate it, but it was low quality and I couldn't catch the lyrics very well and it was just... kinda meh. But I bought it when it hit Amazon, and after a few listens, I fell in love. It just continues to grow on me. I especially LOVE the end of it. It's just powerful.

Well, when I posted that Dying Muse challenge earlier, I didn't expect this to come up of her own volition...

Humor ahead! )

(Or, rather, challenge The Dying Muse*.)

So here's the deal: I want to write. And I'm pretty sure The Dying Muse does, too. But she just doesn't seem to like any of MY current ideas. So, I think she is requesting a swift kick in the pants. (Which I'd be happy to give her, but it wouldn't help.) What she needs right now is inspiration, and that's where I hope YOU come in. yes, you!

Give me a prompt. A few words, song lyrics, thoughts, whatever. Something that'll maybe get her going. If you'd like to see it with a particular fandom that you know I like, feel free to request it. (Your best bets on not-totally-shitty writing are Xena, BSG, or Alias. Just BTW.) Or if you don't care and just want to light a fire under her ass, then give me carte blanche and I'll try to run with it.

(*Dying Muse, if you missed it - which is entirely possible since it just kinda happened - is apparently the identity of my ficcy muse. I think it's apropos in a few ways. For one, she DOES seem to die a lot. She goes away for long stretches of time. For another, I like to make people die in my fics. Big fan of the mass murder. [I once killed the entire cast of Alias in a 25-chapter-epic-slaughter. {And one of the best parts was a review on an early chapter saying 'I'm glad her world is coming apart, it means things can only get better.' Hee!} Ahem.] So yeah, all in all, I think it's a good name for her. Maybe she'll stay healthy for a bit and not go die on me right now.)

Where DID those Muses get to? )

My first completed BSG vid! (hopefully, first of many.) Also my first vid in about 3 years. Whew.

Vid Title: Home to You
Artist: Avenged Sevenfold
Song: Gunslinger
Pairing: A/R
About: A New Caprica centric vid. Bill and Laura each went through a lot on their own, but finally know that they're going home to each other.

Also, I had a bitch of a time bringing this thing to life. Never mind DLing and clipping the relevant eps (WMM made this far more difficult than it should be) and just remembering how to USE WMM. When it was finally done, YouTube and DailyMotion BOTH muted audio on it as soon as it was uploaded. I don't know if it'll last on the current host, since the site is gamer-centric and this is decidedly not. We'll see. I'm kinda bummed about it all, because the only people who'll see it are those who watch in the next few days after this is posted. No one's gonna randomly find it on FF like they might on YouTube. I'm reasonably pleased with it too, especially for how long it's been, so this all puts a bit of a damper on it. Ah well... maybe I'll have better luck next time.

So how long until someone goes into an RA and their excuse (if they live to tell one) is 'but I saw it on that Alltell commercial!' ?

I really didn't plan to use another Hurt song for Music Monday this soon, but they've released a couple of songs from the upcoming CD (April 7th, w00t!) and I'm loving them more and more. My favorite of the 3 so far is actually Dreams Away, but for some reason I wanted to share World Ain't Right instead. (You can listen to both of them, and Wars still, at the link provided, if you're interested.) I also need to do a Real Life update, cause much has happened in the last weekish. Just not right now.

Hurt (featuring Shaun Morgan of Seether) - World Ain't Right (Don't need a Myspace account to listen!)

The world it just ain't right.
It keeps me up at night.
A good man's paralyzed.
He's everything to me,
hell, what else could he be?
He paid for all we do.
He paid for all we get.
Just try not to forget,
if it hasn't happened yet.

A gambler pays his dues,
a gambler pays his debts,
placed upon a bet,
a brand new red Corvette,
but he just lost Juliet.
He paid for all he'd do,
He paid for all he'd get,
and how could I forget,
when it hasn't happened yet?

Would you show me the meaning of love,
so it doesn't affect me much?
What you do unto us,
I never expected all my hopes and dreams,
to fall apart at the seams...
to fall apart at the seams.

The kindest man I knew,
the kindest man I've seen,
was tied to a machine.
Yeah, tied to a machine,
the kind that makes you breathe.

So could you show me the meaning of love,
'cause it doesn't affect me much?
What you do unto us,
I never expected all my hopes and dreams,
to fall apart at the seams....
to fall apart at the seams.

The world it just ain't right.
It keeps me up at night.
Try to be satisfied,
but I'm still in love with you,
but it's not like you want me to.

Initially, I didn't care for this one much. Too slow and stripped down. But on repeat listens, it grew on me. A lot. I'm pretty well in love with it now. That same slow, mellow, stripped down quality has become one of the great things about it. And that 'but he just lost Juliet' line? I don't know what it is about it, but I LOVE how Shawn delivers it. It's so fantastic. That one stays in my head, and I think it's a huge part of why I've grown to love the song as a whole.

So last night, I went to see WWE Smackdown in Hot Springs. First time any WWE event has been in HS, so that was cool. With Jeff currently being the WWE champion, he was one of the main draws and was in the main event. I had pretty damn good seating, being just 4 rows back from the ring. But those 4 rows made a difference... the tallest person in the section? Sat right in front of me. >.< And his son alternated standing on the chair and waving signs, so ebtween them, it was hard to see for much of the show. Meh. And then, the camera I was using was really not good enough to get clear shots, so most of the ones I took are crap. But some are decentish:Read more... )
